Delong Reaches 14 Valid Patents
A new batch of utility model patents has been granted by the China National Intellectual Property Administration, bringing the company's valid patents to 14, with another 5 under examination.

Zhuzhou Delong Metal Material Processing Co., Ltd. has recently received further grants from the China National Intellectual Property Administration, bringing its valid patents to 14, of which 1 is an invention patent and 13 are utility model patents. Another 2 invention patents and 3 utility model patents are pending.
The patents cluster in three directions: cemented carbide substrate formulation, insert chipbreaker geometry, and the interface treatment between coating and substrate. These three happen to correspond to the three problems customers raise most often — insert edge chipping, poor chip evacuation and premature coating peeling. The technical routes were mostly worked back from real conditions on the shop floor, rather than starting a project first and then looking for a use case.
R&D spending is close to 6% of sales revenue, with more than 15 technical staff and more than 20 intermediate and senior technicians. A patent only counts once it lands in process documents and machine parameters, so every grant is followed by a mass-production validation, and only once the result can be reproduced stably is it adopted into the standard process.
